Our client, a leading New England general contractor with 60+ years of success in infrastructure and civil construction, has an immediate need for a
hands-on Controller
to oversee all aspects of corporate accounting and construction finance. This is a high-visibility role within a small, collaborative team where you’ll have direct influence on systems, processes, and future growth. Key Responsibilities
Oversee all day-to-day accounting and financial operations, including project accounting, cash management, job cost tracking, and financial reporting. Lead the company’s transition and migration to CMiC (prior ERP migration experience strongly preferred). Manage financial processes across design-build and bid-build projects to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Partner with Project Managers and Operations to analyze project performance, forecast cash flow, and maintain cost control. Maintain relationships with external auditors, insurance providers, and bonding companies. Provide executive leadership with timely and accurate reporting, while improving internal controls and reporting automation. What You Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance 10+ years of construction finance experience within a general contracting or self-performing subcontractor environment. Proven success managing or migrating construction ERP systems - ideally transitioning to or working in CMiC. Strong grasp of GAAP, WIP reporting, cash flow management, and cost accounting. Detail-oriented and analytical with the ability to “roll up your sleeves” and work alongside operations. Tech-savvy with a mindset for continuous improvement and efficiency.
