About the Role: The Business and Community Development Manager is responsible for cultivating long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community partners. The role promotes Prospera Credit Union's products and services to increase membership, deposits, and small business loan relationships through a consultative approach. In addition, the Specialist manages community engagement initiatives, including leading the Giving Committee, organizing volunteer opportunities, and seeking out events that connect Prospera to the communities we serve. By building strong partnerships, the Manager helps advance the Credit Union's mission of helping members and the community prosper.
Expectations and Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Philanthropy - 35%
Manage Prospera's Giving Committee, including review and allocation of community sponsorships, donations, and foundation funds.
Facilitate, organize, and promote volunteer opportunities for employees.
Build partnerships with nonprofits, chambers of commerce, schools, and other community organizations.
Identify and coordinate opportunities for Prospera to be visibly present and engaged in the communities where we have branches.
Business Development & Relationship Building - 30%
Prospect and network with local businesses and organizations to develop new relationships.
Grow small business membership, deposits, and loan relationships through a consultative selling approach.
Maintain ongoing contact with business members to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for expanded partnerships.
Event & Outreach Activities - 20%
Represent Prospera at community events, trade shows, educational seminars, and business expos.
Actively engage in networking opportunities, including after-hours functions, to increase brand awareness and community presence.
Collaborate with internal teams to support marketing campaigns, sponsorship activities, and event participation.
Marketing & Strategic Implementation - 15%
Execute marketing and outreach strategies to generate new membership leads beyond the current field of membership.
Track, measure, and report on community and business development activities.
Provide feedback and recommendations to enhance outreach efforts and community impact.
Knowledge & Skills
3-5 years of business development, community engagement, or partnership-building experience; retail banking or financial services experience preferred.
Outgoing personality with strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
Proven ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Strong sales and service skills with a track record of meeting goals.
Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
Passion for community involvement and philanthropy.
Knowledge of credit union products and services (preferred).
