The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As the
Global Logistics Network Optimization Manager , you will play a pivotal role in elevating the efficiency, resilience, and innovation of 3M’s global logistics network. By leading optimization initiatives, advancing digitization strategies, and applying advanced analytics and modeling tools, you will drive measurable improvements across logistics operations worldwide. This role requires close collaboration with cross‑functional and regional teams to ensure flawless project execution and adoption of digital solutions that streamline processes and enable smarter decision‑making. You will also be responsible for monitoring performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and continuously exploring emerging technologies to keep 3M at the forefront of logistics innovation.
Responsibilities
Leading global logistics network optimization projects using tools such as Supply Chain Guru (Llamasoft), Optilogic, or similar platforms. Design and deliver solutions that optimize costs, service levels, and network efficiency.
Applying advanced modeling tools (Llamasoft, Optilogic, AnyLogistix, or similar) to simulate, optimize, and enhance logistics network efficiency and resilience.
Owning project governance by managing timelines, deliverables, and resources. Ensure initiatives are executed on time, within scope, and aligned to business objectives and quality standards.
Developing and implementing logistics digitization strategies, identifying areas for automation, data integration, and digital tools to simplify workflows and improve agility.
Analyzing complex data sets to diagnose inefficiencies and uncover improvement opportunities. Translate data‑driven insights into actionable recommendations and solutions.
Collaborating with global, cross‑functional stakeholders to align on analytics‑driven projects and ensure seamless integration across functions, geographies, and business units.
Monitoring and reporting on KPIs, leveraging dashboards and advanced visualization tools to track performance, identify trends, and drive informed decision‑making.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant industry regulations and company policies, while proactively adapting to new requirements.
Train and Mentor Team Members: Lead training and coaching sessions on optimization, modeling, scenario design, and advanced analytics tools. Build team capabilities to apply these solutions in daily operations while fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and accountability. Effectively prioritize and allocate resources across multiple design and optimization initiatives.
Optimization & Decision Support: Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Commercial, and Procurement to assess trade‑offs among cost, service, and risk. Recommend and support strategic initiatives such as warehouse consolidation, capacity expansion, supplier diversification, and modal shifts. Establish and track key performance indicators (e.g., cost‑to‑serve, service level, working capital efficiency) to measure outcomes and guide decision‑making.
Staying ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, continuously exploring innovations such as AI, machine learning, and digital twins to strengthen network design and execution.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Supply Chain/Logistics, Operations Research, Business Administration, or Computer Science (completed and verified prior to start)
Ten (10) years of combined experience in Logistics, Distribution, Transportation, Supply Chain, or Business Operations across private, public, government, or military environments.
Five (5) years of people leadership experience, with proven ability to develop, motivate, and inspire diverse teams.
Seven (7) years of hands‑on experience with network optimization tools such as Llamasoft, Optilogic, or equivalent platforms.
Four (4) years of experience with analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, SQL, or similar.
Additional Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred.
Professional certifications such as CSCP, CLTD, SC Pro, or APICS.
Proven self‑starter mindset with ability to operate independently in complex, fast‑paced, and global environments.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), including executive‑level presentation skills.
Experience with logistics and supply chain management systems (WMS, TMS, ERP).
Advanced capability in data transformation and modeling using Power BI, SQL, DAX, Python, or related languages.
Strong project management expertise, including experience with PMO processes, portfolio governance, and agile methodologies.
Deep expertise in end‑to‑end supply chain processes including demand/supply planning, logistics, manufacturing, sourcing, and inventory management.
Advanced analytical capabilities with proven ability to translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that drive business performance.
Outstanding communication and executive presentation skills, able to influence decisions at the senior leadership level.
Strong track record of cross‑functional collaboration, driving alignment and consensus across diverse stakeholders.

Work Location This role has an on‑site working model, with the employee working at least four days a week in the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
Travel May include up to 10% domestic/international.
