Job Description
As a Senior Industrial Engineer at a 3M distribution center, you will drive operations excellence across our distribution network. Your focus will include designing, implementing, and optimizing network architecture, automation systems, labor management programs, and continuous improvement projects to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Lead network optimization initiatives to redesign distribution networks for cost efficiency, accuracy, and throughput.
Identify, analyze, and lead improvement projects across distribution centers, focusing on process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency gains.
Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams (Operations, IT, Supply Chain) to ensure seamless integration of industrial engineering solutions and alignment with business goals.
Manage financial aspects of projects, including estimating expenditures, monitoring costs, and ensuring adherence to budgets.
Provide guidance and training to interns and new hires, and participate in cross‑functional teams and standards/guidelines groups.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in industrial/manufacturing engineering, operations research, statistics, business, or a related field—OR high school diploma/GED with ten (10) years of logistics experience.
Five (5) years of experience in network optimization within a distribution, supply‑chain, or logistics environment.
Five (5) years of experience with supply‑chain network optimization tools such as Llamasoft SupplyChain Guru, Optilogic, JDA Strategist, or Gurobi, and industrial engineering methodologies.
Three (3) years of proficiency with ETL tools such as Alteryx or Tableau Prep, SQL, analytics, and project‑management tools.
Additional qualifications that strengthen your candidacy include a master’s degree, distribution automation experience, Lean Six Sigma certification, facility‑design tool proficiency, and strong communication and leadership skills.
Work Location DeKalb, IL
Travel May include up to 25% domestic/international travel.
Relocation Assistance May be authorized.
Compensation Base salary $122,292 – $149,468 (plus variable incentive pay, if eligible)
