Health and Pantry Coordinator

will maintain our Client-Choice Pantry, support and run healthy holistic workshops, and staff our free, restaurant-style cafe two times per week. Responsibilities include: Recognize the connection between proper nutrition and physical wellness Coordinate our food & hygiene pantry Connect with community healthcare organizations to bring health education and screenings to EZRA Provide staffing and client support for the JUF Uptown Cafe Collaborate with community partners on issues surrounding food security and healthcare What You'll Be Doing Food & Hygiene Pantry Serve as the primary liaison to the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD), as well as organizations and individuals that provide donations Provide pantry and hygiene bags to clients during open pantry hours and during individual appointments Supervise pantry volunteers during open pantry hours and during pantry walkthroughs Assist in orienting new pantry volunteers on a quarterly basis Sort and organize pantry and hygiene closet donations Supervise GCFD deliveries, including bimonthly and produce van deliveries, and open pantry or coordinate staff as necessary Maintain Amazon "wish list" and work with volunteers to promote donations to the food pantry Discard expired, damaged, or unsafe food items in a timely manner Check pantry refrigerator and freezer temperatures regularly JUF Uptown Cafe Ensure compliance with regulations and policies Participate in all tasks required to run JUF Uptown Cafe two times per week, including set-up, volunteer orientation, and Cafe management as assigned by Health & Nutrition Manager Establish relationships with Cafe clients Obtain/maintain food service certificate Participate in department program planning Provide support with program administrative tasks Healthy Advantage Program Provide staffing and support for other Health and Nutrition Team and agency programming as assigned Mobile Dentistry Project Serve as the primary liaison between the mobile dentistry unit and EZRA Facilitate monthly dental service days Coordinate with EZRA staff and Healthy Advantage clients to schedule dental appointments Health & Nutrition Attend weekly supervisions, team meetings, and staff meetings Participate in quarterly Client Attendance Policy meetings Provide vignettes and narratives for grants team Participate in department program planning and management Provide staffing for other agency programs as requested Other Duties Assist the Emergency and Financial Services (EFS) Department in completing appropriate case management tasks to help clients maintain self-sufficiency and access financial assistance Actively participate in meetings What you need to succeed 1-3 years' experience in social service or related direct service field Bachelor's degree (in social work or related field) is strongly preferred, but not required Interest in working for an agency with an urban Jewish social justice agenda Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn other software systems Knowledge of Canva and Mailchimp is a plus Ability to work in a calm and collected manner Strong attention to detail, time management skills, and a high level of accuracy in data entry and reporting Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with a broad range of individuals Empathy and sensitivity in working with low-income populations Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g., phone, computer), sit, stand, bend, twist and/or walk on a frequent basis, and physical stamina to be mobile for long periods Ability to lift at least 25 lbs What You'll Love About Us At the Jewish United Fund (JUF), we take pride in our mission and in having a work culture that fosters a sense of belonging and feels rewarding, supportive, and inclusive We offer medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) with base contribution and match, additional health and wellness benefits, financial benefits, professional training, tuition reimbursement, up to 22 days of paid time off (starting with 15), up to 11 sick days (starting with 7), and up to 21 paid holidays Seniority level : Entry level Employment type : Full-time Job function : Other Industries : Restaurants The salary for this role is $48,000-$50,000 per year Schedule: Sunday 9:30am-12:30pm, Monday 9:00am-6:00pm, Tuesday 9:00am-7:30pm, Wednesday 9:00am-5:00pm, Thursday 9:00am-6:00pm, Occasional secular holidays
