Overview
MasTec Civil is hiring a seasoned Construction Project Manager near Jacksonville, FL! The Project Manager bears the full responsibility to oversee that the construction is performed according to specification, in the most efficient manner according to schedule and under budget. For this to happen the Project Manager is expected, among other things, to follow all project related procedures and of most importance, company policy. To accomplish these expectations the following procedures and guidelines have been established to facilitate the process.

Responsibilities
Planning and Scheduling : Make a thorough study of the project to be performed. Discuss plans, schedules, and details with Division Personnel and Management. Assess needs including personnel, equipment, materials, and feasible time frame. Determine best course of action and continue planning throughout the project for possible improvements. Establish Field Office Site Plan, Trailers, Permits and Fees, Establishing Utilities, Employee Parking, Temp. Roads, Lay Down Areas, Tool Cribs, Insurance & Bonds, Safety & First Aid.
Project Coordination : The Project Manager is the Company\'s top representative at the project. Attend progress meetings with Owner/Engineer and ensure required documents are submitted timely. Conduct internal scheduling meetings with Superintendents, Foremen, and Subcontractors to coordinate work areas, labor, equipment, material, and survey needs. Conduct Pre-Activity Meetings prior to significant items of work to discuss responsibilities, means & methods, MOT requirements, safety, quality control, etc.
Personnel Selection : Main Office and HR assist in selecting key management. Project Manager coordinates staffing with HR and ensures company policies are enforced.
Staffing & Engineering : Supervise Project Engineer and engineering staff. Coordinate with Project Engineer on hiring outside Specialty Engineers as needed. Mentor engineers assigned to the project.
Contract Documents : Familiarize yourself with contract, specifications, plans, addendums, revisions, permits, utility relocation schedules. Understand what is required for each item of work and how you get paid. Be aware of situations that warrant extra pay or documentation for potential claims.
Invoices & Cost Control : Review and approve all invoices, subcontractor payments and timesheets. Study cost reports and note variances. Understand pay item estimates, communicate with supervisors, and evaluate procedures for cost effectiveness. Manage change orders and claims documentation; submit in a timely manner. Provide monthly Project Status Reports with cost reports; ensure reports reflect actual field performance with accurate quantities and projections.
Subcontractor / Vendor Management : Negotiate subcontractors and vendors. Ensure timely payments per subcontract requirements and internal procedures. Manage subcontractor/vendor claims, change orders and disputes.
Documentation : Ensure all project team members submit required documentation (daily reports, accident reports, T&M sheets, etc.). Maintain a detailed daily project diary. Ensure project photos and meeting minutes are filed. Notify client if project records are inaccurate or incomplete.
Public Relations : The Project Manager is the top project official and handles most negotiations in the preliminary stages. Maintain integrity and professional conduct reflecting on the company.
Safety : Ensure project compliance with company and OSHA safety regulations. Be knowledgeable of OSHA rules and company safety policies; monitor and enforce them. Coordinate with the Safety Manager to maintain safety compliance.
This position is the top project level management position with MasTec Civil and demands leadership, judgment, loyalty, and the ability to work with others. A good Project Manager should follow all procedures and policies required by MasTec Civil.
Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
Minimum five years\' experience in the heavy construction industry with bridge, roadwork, and DOT experience
PMP Certification preferred
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Understanding of construction means and methods in heavy construction
Strong team leadership and project management skills; experience leading multi-disciplined teams
Ability to direct work of subcontractors to achieve project goals
Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; project scheduling (P3) at a minimum
Maintain onsite project documentation; schedule and coordinate all site work
Well organized, detail oriented; ability to multitask and manage multiple sites
Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications; excellent verbal and written communication
Ability to interact with people at all levels; high standard of external and internal communication
Highly motivated, driven, results oriented; thrives in fast-paced environments
