Ensure a safe and healthy environment on assigned project. The Site Safety Specialist is expected to work with people in all levels of Project Management and Field Supervision to establish operational priorities and coordinate efforts that focus on hazard and risk identification, avoidance and elimination. Prevention of incidents, accidents, injuries or losses is the primary responsibility of the Site Safety Specialist.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
New worker safety orientation
Perform all orientations for all new workers on site
Update and maintain the orientation presentation as conditions change on the jobsite
Task Hazard Analysis'
Assist our Pepper teams as well as our trade partner teams with conducting impactful THA's
Attend various crew THA meetings regularly
Collect and file all safety paperwork including:
Site specific safety plans
SDS's
THA's
Toolbox talks
Hot work permits
Roof work permits
Manage Ground Penetrating Underground Protection (GPUP) permits
Crane lift plans, annual crane inspection, operator cards
Verify, collect and file all training certifications
Verify compliance with OSHA, Pepper Construction and client safety requirements
Ensure High Risk Activities (confined space entry, hoisting operations, LO/TO, hot work, excavations, fall exposures, etc.) are being executed correctly
Facilitate and attend all safety preinstallation meetings
Attend foreman's meetings and lead safety discussions
Schedule project team safety audits and site audits
Perform regular, thorough jobsite safety audits and document in SafetyNet or other audit program required by the project
Inspect fire extinguishers and facilitate extinguisher recharging/replacing
Complete incident reports
Lead incident investigations and complete appropriate documentation
Manage critical dig supervision and act as the competent observer when needed
Plan safe access and exit routes
Plan pedestrian traffic and public safety routes
Act as the safety liaison between Pepper and client representatives
Enter all safety related documents into Autodesk and other applicable online software
Represent Pepper Construction in all safety related meetings with client representatives
REQUIREMENTS:
The Site Safety Specialist shall have no other duties than safety related tasks
One of the following:
Degreed safety professional with at least 5 years of safety related tasks in the construction industry
Certified Safety Professional as recognized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals with at least 2 years of construction experience
Has completed the OSHA 30 hour course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry and must have performed full time safety responsibilities for at least 10 years in the construction industry
Successfully complete the OSHA 510 and OSHA 500 courses within 1 year of hire date.

The target salary for this position is $92,000. We consider many factors when determining actual hiring salary. These factors may include location, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, internal equity, and market demands.
