Highway Maintenance Specialist - Hanging Lake Tunnel (CDL Required, $500/mo housing) Base pay range: $25.68/hr - $38.50/hr. Total annual compensation for this position is $59,400 ($53,400 base pay and $6,000 housing stipend). What You Will Do

Plowing snow Operating heavy equipment, such as tandem dump truck, loader, tractor mower, etc. Mowing grass and weeds Removing debris from roadways, including rock, mud, and deceased animals Removing debris from culverts, tunnels, etc. Shoveling gravel, sand, concrete, and asphalt Digging ditches Installing and repairing guardrail, highway markers and signs, warning signs, and lighting Filling potholes and roadway cracks Setting out signs and cones for traffic control Removing and covering graffiti Installing pavement markings/striping Stopping or slowing traffic in emergency situations Maintaining equipment and performing minor repairs Following safety guidance and wearing proper safety equipment What Impact You Will Have

Exposure to loud noise, fumes, odors, gasses, dust Required to use personal protective equipment Work with chemicals, some equipment requiring respirators Work near traffic; use ladders/scissor lifts up to 10’–20’ Drive CDOT vehicles; may respond to emergencies outside regular hours Willing to work in extreme temperatures and elevations up to 12,000 feet Minimum Qualifications

Must have at least two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience. Preferred Qualifications

Commitment to safety; desire to learn; enjoy outdoor, physically demanding work Team player with effective communication, especially in safety-critical situations Experience operating equipment (dump trucks, loaders, bulldozers, backhoes) and basic hand tools Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software/equipment State service experience related to duties of this position Conditions of Employment

Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no air-brakes restriction (Colorado operation) CDL transfer rules apply if relocating; out-of-state CDLs must be eligible to drive in Colorado Pre-employment screening and possible drug test and DOT physical On-call and shift work; essential services designation May need to live within 30 minutes for timely response New employees: two weeks of maintenance training; veterans: one week annually May require Hazardous Materials endorsement within 6–12 months Must provide a reliable contact number and be ready to respond to emergencies Supplemental Information
