Highway Maintenance Specialist - Hanging Lake Tunnel (CDL Required, $500/mo housing). CDOT has a vacancy for a Highway Maintenance Specialist at Hanging Lake Tunnel, CO. Applications will be considered from residents and non-residents of Colorado. Total annual compensation for this position is $59,400 ($53,400 base pay and $6,000 housing stipend). Base pay is $53,400 annually ($2,053.85 biweekly). This location is eligible for an additional $500/month housing stipend. The annualized hourly rate is $25.68 with overtime at $38.50/hour. What You Will Do: CDOT highway maintenance duties vary by project needs, weather, and road conditions. You will work in a team environment with a lead highway maintenance specialist and other staff. You will be on-call rotating and may respond to weather and other emergencies. Plowing snow Operating heavy equipment (e.g., tandem dump truck, loader, tractor mower) Mowing grass and weeds Removing debris from roadways (rock, mud, deceased animals) Removing debris from culverts, tunnels, etc. Shoveling gravel, sand, concrete, and asphalt Digging ditches Installing and repairing guardrails, highway markers and signs, warning signs, and lighting Filling potholes and roadway cracks Setting out signs and cones for traffic control Removing and covering graffiti Installing pavement markings/striping Stopping or slowing traffic in emergency situations Maintaining equipment and performing minor repairs Following safety guidance and wearing proper safety equipment Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications : Must have at least two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience. Preferred Qualifications : Strong safety commitment; willingness to learn; outdoor work preference; physically demanding work tolerance; teamwork; effective communication, especially in safety-critical situations; customer service mindset; problem-solving; experience operating equipment (e.g., dump trucks, front-end loaders, bulldozers, backhoes); basic computer skills; state service experience related to duties. Conditions of Employment

Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no restriction on air brakes for operation within Colorado. If you have a non-Colorado CDL, you must be eligible to drive in Colorado with your CDL at time of hire. If relocating, transfer the CDL within 30 days. Pre-employment checks may include social security trace, criminal records, educational records, and driving records. May require drug testing and a DOT physical. On-call work and shift work; essential services designation; may need to live within 30 minutes of the work site. New employees may undergo two weeks of maintenance training; veterans may have yearly training. May require Hazardous Materials endorsement within 6 months to 1 year. Supplemental Information
