This key role will contribute to shaping the future of our design engineering department, leading projects and a team as we build up our capabilities over the coming years.
Job Summary We are looking for a seasoned Structural Engineer who can integrate into our thriving company and bring their expertise in precast concrete design to the table. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of structural design principles, across all construction materials but specifically in precast concrete, and a strong understanding of industry standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer who is ready to take on significant responsibility and grow into a leadership position as we expand our design team.
Key Responsibilities
Precast Concrete Design: Lead the design of precast concrete structures for a variety of projects, including commercial, industrial, and infrastructure applications.
Structural Analysis: Conduct detailed structural analysis and calculations to ensure designs meet code requirements and performance standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, and other engineers to ensure that designs are practical, cost-effective, and tailored to client needs.
Quality Control: Review and approve precast drawings, specifications, and calculations, ensuring compliance with relevant building codes and industry best practices.
Innovative Solutions: Apply creative and innovative design solutions to ensure efficiency in design, fabrication, and erection of precast structures.
Mentorship & Leadership: As the design team grows, take on leadership responsibilities, providing guidance, mentorship, and training to junior engineers and design staff.
Continuous Improvement: Stay current on trends, tools, technologies, and industry best practices related to structural design and precast concrete, and apply this knowledge to enhance the team’s capabilities.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
Experience: At least 5-7 years of experience in structural design, with a strong focus on precast concrete design.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in structural analysis and design software (e.g., RISA, SAP, AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
In-depth knowledge of precast concrete design, including industry standards (PCI, ACI, ASTM, etc.) and relevant building codes.
Experience with both small and large-scale precast projects (walls, beams, panels, etc.) from concept through to final design.
Leadership Potential: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor engineers, and manage projects to successful completion.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information to clients and team members.
Preferred Qualifications
Structural Engineer (SE) license, or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or related field.
Experience in managing or building a design engineering team.
Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) for structural design.
