Buckeye Nurse Residency Program Department

The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center Health System Buckeye Nurse Residency Program provides support for the new graduate nurse as they transition from nursing student to professional clinician. The program is a full-time, 6-month program with monthly cohorts. It offers opportunities to develop critical thinking skills related to clinical practice and safe patient care, and is designed to develop new nurses as leaders and collaborative health care team members as they progress from novice to competent nurse. The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center Health System specializes in medical and surgical, cardiac, neurological, progressive care, rehabilitation, emergency medicine and mental health. The Buckeye Nurse Residency Program includes classroom and simulation experiences, hands-on clinical experience, and ongoing professional and personal development. Each resident receives support from the Nurse Residency Director, unit Educator, unit managers, and cohort peers. Positions can be located at University Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, East Hospital, Brain & Spine Hospital, Dodd Hospital & Harding Hospital. Responsibilities

Serve as a member of the care team, providing patient care under supervision and developing leadership within the nursing role. Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, delegate and evaluate nursing care for patients and their families. Prioritize patient care needs and contribute to the development of the patient care team. Participate in clinical practice, classroom, and simulation experiences to advance professional growth. Qualifications

Graduate from a CCNE- or ACEN-accredited nursing program required. Current licensure or interim permit to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio required. Previous experience in a relevant care setting preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. Location: Medical Center Tower (0870). Shift: Full-time; Scheduled Hours: 40 per week.
