Job Summary: This position requires a dynamic leader capable of managing 117 dining services employees while maintaining the highest standards of culinary excellence, resident satisfaction, and operational efficiency in a premier continuing care retirement community setting. The Director will oversee daily operations across all dining venues while managing food safety protocols, menu development, and procurement processes. Key responsibilities include leading and developing a large culinary team, managing Dining Services annual budget with focus on cost control and profitability, ensuring exceptional resident dining experiences through feedback systems and dietary accommodation, and driving strategic planning initiatives including technology integration, facility improvements, and innovative dining programs that enhance community life and maintain competitive positioning in the senior living market.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations of five fine dining venues, developing and implementing policies, procedures, and service standards to ensure consistent quality and resident satisfaction
Manage food safety protocols to ensure compliance with health department regulations and industry best practices.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 117 dining services employees, including chefs, sous chefs, servers, and support staff
Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and implement professional development programs
Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, excellence, and resident-focused service
Develop and manage annual dining services budget, monitoring food costs, labor expenses, and overall profitability
Implement cost-control measures and efficiency improvements while maintaining quality standards
Analyze financial reports and key performance indicators to drive operational decisions
Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers to optimize value and quality
Maintain exceptional dining experiences that meet the sophisticated expectations of residents
Implement resident feedback systems and respond proactively to suggestions and concerns
Collaborate with wellness teams to accommodate special dietary needs and nutritional requirements
Ensure accessibility and inclusive dining options for residents with varying mobility and dietary needs
Develop long-term strategic plans for dining services growth and enhancement
Stay current with industry trends, particularly in senior dining and hospitality
Implement technology solutions to improve efficiency and resident experience
Plan and execute dining facility renovations, equipment upgrades, and layout optimizations
Collaborate with the marketing team on promoting the dining program and community positioning
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor2 s degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field
Certifications: Food Service Manager Certification, ServSafe Manager Certification
Leadership Experience: Minimum 8 years of progressive food service leadership
Team Leadership: Proven success managing teams of 75+ employees
Industry Background: Fine dining or upscale hospitality experience required
Regulatory Knowledge: Current understanding of Florida health department regulations
