SMA America is seeking a Service Engineer to support our Needville, TX site. The Service Engineer is responsible for maintaining Utility & commercial inverters, PV Solar equipment, and customer site equipment in the field.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Service Engineer will work to maintain equipment, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and analyze Utility & commercial inverter applications, and maintain excellent customer service activities. Primary Duties / Responsibilities
Commissions, troubleshoots, repairs, and analyzes Utility & commercial inverters, PV Solar equipment, and customer site equipment in the field. Develops a detailed knowledge of SMA’s inverter products and associated PV accessories. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable National Electric and Electrical safety codes. Regularly works with high voltage DC electricity, low & medium voltage three-phase power, and relevant software and firmware. Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction while striving to lower the costs of field service. Works at heights, on ladders or lift equipment, and has the ability to operate forklifts. Travels as required to SMA or customer sites. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRED TRAINING
An Associate’s degree or higher in a technical field is strongly preferred. Required Relevant Professional Experience
At least 2 years of experience in PV Solar and/or PV Solar O&M. At least 3 years of experience in electrical, electronic, and/or network communications. NABCEP Certification is strongly preferred. Other Specialized Skills
Knowledge of solar and/or alternative energy markets is preferred. Knowledge of National Electric Code is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Proficiency in the English language is required, and German and/or Spanish language skills are a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are required. Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively. This position requires infrequent domestic and international travel.
