Quality Engineer

Responsibilities

Supervises plant quality functions; coordinates APQP functions. Participates in APQP meetings and coordinates the review of the Production Tooling Progress Report. Creates / assists in implementing and maintaining control plans, work/inspection instructions, local procedures, visual aids/samples. Prepares sample submissions for PPAP Packages; supervises the retention of PPAP samples. Assists in maintaining TS-16949 certification and meeting customer quality requirements. Maintain PPAP log within TBVC’s Quality portal. Uploads information into portal for each PPAP submission and provides approval documentation to required TBVC personnel. Designs, implements and maintains various programs to continually improve quality processes within the facility. Interaction with customers during APQP meetings and Process Sign-offs and TS 16949 internal/external audits. Communicate with customers through their internal systems. Pro-active and customer initiated plant visits. Acts as Quality Department liaison with the supplier to investigate quality problems and as a resource to the supplier pertaining to product quality. Assists in problem solving activities, both internal and customer-initiated and design and implement corrective actions, both with customers and suppliers, and follow these programs to prevent recurrence. Participates in internal and external Team Oriented Problem Solving (G.P.S.) activities. Develops and implements corrective actions (8-D) for internal quality and delivery problems. Works with manufacturing personnel to effectively implement corrective/preventive actions and to verify effectiveness of those actions. Maintain Customer Complaint log within Trelleborg America’s Quality Portal, including uploading corrective action information into system. Completes all associated records and reports. Applies statistical analysis and concepts to the manufacturing process. Assist in preparation of presentations by creating charts and graphs, compiling books, and duplicating books. Complete dimensional layouts using lab equipment, as necessary. Duties include the responsibility for final part quality including the obligation to shut down processes producing discrepant material. Represent the needs of the customer with regards to internal functions when the Quality Manager is unavailable. Works with the Trim Lead to oversee the Firewall/Reinspect area. Ensure I- charts on boards weekly. Assists in making dimensional and/or mechanical inspection and test of assemblies and sub-assemblies to ensure conformance with quality standards. Create programs and operate CMM. Mount, install, align and secure tools attachments fixtures and work pieces on CMM machine using hand tools and/or precision measuring instruments

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree (B.S. or B.A.) from four year college or university in appropriate technical field One to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Proficient computer skills Must have proficient verbal and written communication skills Good problem solving skills with the ability to follow written and verbal direction
