Preservation, Packaging, Packing and Marking (PPP&M) Manager
Overview
Oversees the warehouse, inventory, and Preservation, Packaging, Packing and Marking (PPP&M) operations. The PPP&M Manager will oversee container reclamation, container fabrication, specialized container fabrication for custom builds and wood packaging material programs to ensure work is conducted IAW all applicable contracts and procedures. Supervises PPP&M Warehouse Supervisor, Warehouse Lead, Shipping Packers, and Woodcraft workers. Responsible for ensuring all PPP&M Contract Data Requirement List (CDRLs) are met IAW the contract and provide necessary reports. Reports to Site Management.
Essential Functions
Understand and meet established productivity and quality control goals associated with the assigned functional area/process.
Follow established guidelines in performing day-to-day routine tasks as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Technical Manuals, and Audit Readiness standards.
Understand the Acceptable Performance Levels (APL's) associated with assigned functional work areas/process and work expeditiously to meet contractual and team goals.
Adhere to government, contract, and company policies and procedures.
Use e-mail to receive and disseminate workload tasks and information.
Communicate in a professional manner with co-workers, site management and CGA regarding operations and policies at the Distribution Center.
Maintain a safe and secure work environment.
Direct employees engaged in conducting WMS activities, including determining the correct packing size based on weight and cube tables, tracking work orders, and reporting packaging information within the system and creating PPP&M work orders.
Provide technical guidance to employees on the interpretation, application and modification of preservation, packaging and packing matters, including processing criteria, procedures, and techniques.
Resolve complex problems connected with preservation, packaging, marking methods, specifications, or blocking and bracing a wide variety of military equipment and supplies.
Ensure all packaging and packaging support Acceptable Performance Levels (APLs) outlined in the contract are met.
Establish packaging SOPs for employees to follow.
Redirect workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work and accommodate daily workload fluctuations.
Conduct planning of current and future work schedules, providing workload data, estimates, information on staffing needs, and recommendations for scheduling projected work.
Ensure work is done properly and efficiently IAW the terms and conditions of the contract.
Use WMS and other Government Data Systems to perform the requirements in the PWS.
Perform other duties as assigned in association with established Management and Contract Compliance Plans, Storage Plans, and workload requirements.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
The employee may be required to frequently handle equipment/supplies weighing up to 50 pounds individually and occasionally more than 50 pounds with assistance.
Must be able to exert moderate physical effort in loading, unloading, and arranging equipment/supplies as applicable to position.
Ability to work inside and/or outside in dirty and dusty environments, and occasionally be exposed to hot, cold, damp, and drafty weather conditions while handling equipment/supplies.
Be able to perform work on hard or uneven surfaces.
Qualifications
Experience using the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Knowledge of governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, manuals, or other established guidelines.
Skilled in planning, controlling, executing, multi-tasking and being responsible for the successful completion of work requirements.
Skills
Ability to read and write in English, comprehend written instructions, perform basic math tasks, and communicate effectively.
Fully knowledgeable in Government and Commercial Traffic Management functions and processes, including international shipping requirements, laws, and procedures.
Certifications / Licenses / Registrations
Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance applicable to the position and/or military CAC within 30 days if required.
Successful completion of WMS training, OSHA compliance, and associated DLA SOP; completion of company mandated training applicable to position.
Possess a valid Driver's License.
Education
Minimum high school diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with hazardous materials storage and shipments.
Military or DLA experience.
