Vinfen
The YCCS Mental Health Counselor will provide direct service to youth who have behavioral health symptoms, mental health, substance use or co-occurring disorders behavioral health in a Youth Community Crisis Stabilization (YCCS) Program. The YCCS Mental Health Counselor will help prepare youth returning to the community to engage in a recovery process and to communicate their strengths, hopes, dreams and goals to the team.
The YCCS Program is designed to provide a staff-secure, safe, and structured crisis stabilization and treatment environment for youth ages 13-18 who require 24-hour per day care in an unlocked treatment setting in a community-based program. The YCCS Program serves as a medically necessary, less restrictive, and voluntary alternative to inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.
The YCCS Mental Health Counselor's responsibilities include:
Implementing individual's treatment plan.
Assisting with intake and orientation procedures with youth and their families or identified supports.
Ensuring an environment that promotes safety, recovery and treatment.
Assisting clients in routine living activities including cleaning, meal preparation, vacuuming, and grocery shopping.
Using crisis intervention techniques when necessary. Access on-call back up when needed.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
One to two years of job-specific experience in the human services field preferred. Preference given to bi-lingual/bi-cultural applicants and applicants with lived experience of psychiatric conditions.
Ability to balance competing priorities.
Ability to make independent judgments and decisions.
Ability to work in a professional and confidential capacity.
Must be able to become CPR and First Aid required within two weeks of hire. Must be able to complete all additional trainings within defined time frame
A valid driver's license must be presented at the time of employment. Must be at least 21 years of age, have maintained a valid US driver's license for at least 6 months.
Must be able to successfully pass a CORI, SORI, education check, employment verification and driver's screen background check.
Pay Range:
