MedStar Health is looking for a
Psychiatric Counselor
to join our team at MedStar Franklin Square Hospital. The ideal candidate will provide therapeutic interventions and make independent clinical decisions about patient rehab skills.
As a Psychiatric Counselor, you will provide assessment, screening, and treatment services to inpatient psychiatric patients. Assist in the development and planning of care as part of the multi-disciplinary treatment team.

Primary Duties:
Complete documentation relevant to activities, ensuring adherence to standards and requirements. Record vital signs, including blood pressure, and report results to RN.
Participate as a member of the treatment team to develop and implement multidisciplinary treatment plans and monitor progress.
Assist in managing aggressive patients to ensure safety, recognizing early warning signs and intervening appropriately. Provide clinical services including therapeutic and educational groups for patients and families.
Provide individual and family interventions as needed. Support Emergency Department staff with behavioral health issues.
Serve as a liaison to referral sources, outside agencies, third-party payors, and other parties, maintaining confidentiality. Use coaching and prompting techniques to foster self-care. Report patient care needs to the RN.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in psychology or related behavioral health discipline.
1-2 years' experience in delivering services to a psychiatric population.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Master's degree preferred.
Minimum Qualifications This position has a hiring range of $22.04 - $38.41.
