Position Summary
A professional caregiver who works independently under the guidance of the Women’s Diagnostic Center Supervisor. The Mammographer is responsible for the performance of screening, diagnostic and invasive breast examinations in accordance with established procedures and policies in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease in adult and geriatric patients. Uses independent judgment in determining the need for radiologist intervention and takes additional views if needed. Follows all regulatory guidelines and MQSA guidelines. Ensures accurate billing and file documentation and records information related to exams in the department computer system. Performs other activities in support of clinical team members when not engaged in imaging activities. The Mammographer provides services in a manner consistent with TCMC’s mission and values. Major Position Responsibilities
Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements. Performs screening, diagnostic, and invasive breast exams in accordance with established policies and procedures. Exercises independent judgment in determining the need for additional views or radiologist intervention. Ensures accurate billing and file documentation. Records exam-related information into computer database systems. Supports other clinical areas when not engaged in imaging activities. Qualifications
Must provide documentation of performance of 25 supervised mammograms from an accredited mammography facility (required). Must provide documentation of 8 continuing education units in digital mammography (required). Good customer service skills (required). Education
Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology Program (verified through licensure). Licenses
CRTM (California Registered Technologist Mammography) license, required. ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) license, required. Certifications
ARRTM (American Registry of Radiologic Technology Mammography), preferred. Current BLS certification, required upon hire; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider. All new hire candidates must pass a physical evaluation, urine drug screen and pre-employment background checks before starting work. Salary/Hourly Wage range is based on experience.
