Job Overview Certified Medical Assistant role at CommonSpirit Health. Sign‑on bonus available for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities Cardiac Testing (90%)
Support treadmill stress testing under RN supervision, including patient preparation, test performance, and patient discharge.
Ensure correct lead placement and accurate lead hookup to capture patient clinical data.
Operate stress‑testing equipment in real time during patient tests.
Adjust equipment settings and controls according to physician orders and established protocol; troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues in a timely manner or escalated to Clinical Engineering.
Prepare test‑result reports for physician interpretation.
Independently perform ECGs, ensuring correct lead placement and screening for technical quality.
Provide support for VM staff in using ECG systems/software.
Independently apply ambulatory cardiac or blood‑pressure monitoring devices such as the Zio Patch.
Perform administrative functions in support of the Cardiovascular Lab.
Schedule and arrive patients for testing.
Prepare billings for services, ensuring accuracy of CPT and ICD‑10 codes.
Cardiovascular Clinic (10%)
Coordinate and schedule services for patients and providers; maintain provider schedules and communicate changes.
Prepare charts with all necessary paperwork and maintain filing of test results.
Update insurance information.
Provide patients with generic preoperative and postoperative information.
Act as primary contact for patients; answer telephones, schedule appointments, remind patients of upcoming appointments, and route calls according to urgent/emergent guidelines.
Perform telephone and in‑person screening and facilitate patient flow & rooming through taking medical histories, vital statistics, and obtaining last visit notes or lab results.
Prepare patients for exams and procedures by obtaining vital signs; explain tests or procedures and inform patients of test results.
Utilize Standard Precautions: clean and organize exam rooms, sterilize equipment, dispose of bio‑hazardous materials, and manage autoclave wrapping.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required.
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program required or validation of equivalent military training (Hospital Corpsman).
Six months of customer experience required.
Active Washington State Medical Assistant – Certified licensure required; may hold Interim MA‑C with a probationary period to obtain permanent MA‑C licensure within 6 months of hire.
Knowledge of insurance concepts preferred.
One year Medical Assistant – Certified experience preferred.
