Preparing and positioning patients for MRI of various parts of the body. Positioning includes setting up equipment (coils, monitoring devices, etc.) and patient in relation to each other to provide best demonstration of the body part under study. Able to lift and position all coils. Screening patients and personnel for any ferrous metal implants or other objects on them, including credit cards and potential missiles. Ensure that no patient/visitor/healthcare worker enters the scan room with ferromagnetic objects or contraindicated implants. Based on protocols established by physician, select appropriate pulse sequences from monitoring console for scan procedures. Accurately records all pulse sequences implemented for the exam. May recommend changes in protocol or additional instructions to provide additional diagnostic information. Evaluate results of scanning procedure for quality and completeness. Manipulate images through the console to display to the physician. Select all image display options and rectify any issues with the operation. Send images to PACS system, evaluate exam for completeness, and verify exam in a timely manner. Develop a working knowledge of all PACS capabilities. Perform daily Quality Assurance tests on equipment. Monitor proper level of cryogens to ensure magnet integrity. Inform Radiology Manager or Supervisor and appropriate service personnel of system problems and document accurately. Other duties
Cleaning and restocking rooms daily. Ability to deal with stressful situations (e.g. trauma). Report problems occurring with equipment to Coordinator or Director of Imaging. Attend regular Radiology departmental meetings. React quickly to emergency situations (e.g., patient fainting, unsafe conditions such as fire) and ensure patient safety. Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends, on‑call and holidays, on a scheduled basis. Must be able to lift, push, reach, bend, stoop, and walk to care for patients. Education, License & Cert:
Graduate of a 24 month AMA approved radiologic technology program; NYS License; CPR Certified; ARRT(MR) certification or Certification eligible. Experience:
Minimum of six months preferred as a registered MR Technologist. Salary
