Overview
Engineer 3 - Transmission at Pike Corporation. Provide transmission line design, engineering, technical support, and oversight to a transmission engineering and design team for safe, cost-effective, and quality engineering and design services. Lead discipline work for projects, perform responsible charge engineering duties, and manage project schedules and budgets. Support proposal development and project cost estimating. Responsibilities
Provide engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems in power transmission and substations. Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities; produce thorough, timely, and accurate technical reports, correspondence, calculations, and sketches. Continuously improve job-related engineering, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; understand and create transmission line drawing packages. Support the company\'s goals and represent the company positively and professionally; interact with customers\' internal engineers and technical personnel; develop and maintain professional relationships with customers. Monitor deliverables and schedules, present solutions to clients; perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications
Education: A bachelor\'s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Experience: 5–7 years in electrical engineering within power delivery. Licenses/Certifications: Preferred Professional Engineer (PE) license; NCEES registration is advantageous. Desirable Skills: Knowledge of transmission line design at 69 kV and higher; familiarity with NESC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE; ability to design and review transmission line packages; experience with PLSCADD, PLSPOLE, MFAD; cost estimating; proposal support; field experience in transmission line projects. Desired Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural or Electrical Engineering. Registered Professional Engineer with NCEES record. 5+ years of electrical utility transmission line design experience; working knowledge of HV transmission line design. End-to-end design package delivery (drawings, bill of materials, specifications) within budget and schedule; strong knowledge of standards. Collaborate with design disciplines, construction contractors, consultants, suppliers, and clients; site visits and on-site issue resolution. Project coordination, proposal assistance, permitting support, and field/construction environment experience. Physical Demands and Work Environment
