Air Comfort was founded in 1935 as an engineering company and equipment distributor for Dr. Willis H. Carrier’s air conditioning products. Originally founded on design, engineering, and installation, we grew to emphasize quality maintenance programs and service. In the 1960s, our ties with The Carrier Corporation were dissolved and we became an independent contractor focusing on HVAC contracting, service, preventive maintenance, retrofit projects, equipment replacements, and design/build projects. The Sales Engineer serves as the liaison between Air Comfort and customers. Responsibilities include addressing customer needs and concerns promptly, developing and maintaining strong relationships, and engineering HVAC systems (air conditioning, heating, ventilating, refrigeration, piping, and electrical) for pre-contract activities. This includes job-site surveys, load calculations, system designs, equipment selection, preparation and presentation of sales proposals, securing orders, turning over work to be done, and servicing accounts to keep them profitable and satisfied. The Sales Engineer acts as liaison for all communications with customers, including periodic visits, handling complaints, and assisting in collections when necessary. Responsibilities
Negotiate pricing with partners for new and renewed customers. Attend sales meetings, conventions, trade fairs, and engineering society activities as required. Estimate piping and sheet metal construction jobs. Develop project schedules, plan materials, and purchase orders within project scope. Obtain sub-contractor estimates and bids, perform project buyouts, and manage subcontractors’ progress against plan. Prepare scopes of work for subcontractors on upcoming bids. Directly communicate with subcontractors to gain coverage. Assist in resolving problems that arise during construction projects. Review plans and specifications for completeness and prepare RFIs as needed. Obtain competitive pricing from material suppliers and subcontractors. Work as the Project Manager for some projects. Monitor project costs for variances and use findings for future bids. Stay current with technology and construction methods to improve production and quality. Schedule factory or in-house field start-ups. Manage close-out documents (as-builts, warranty letters, startup reports, balance reports, O&M manuals). Procure and follow leads assigned by the Company; leads are property of the Company and orders require written approval. Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a technical sales role, preferably in the HVAC industry. Strong understanding of HVAC principles, equipment, and applications. Proficiency in building codes and regulations related to HVAC systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Working knowledge of HVAC software (e.g., AutoCAD) is a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal. Ability to build rapport with clients and identify their needs. Strong presentation and negotiation skills. Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong work ethic and a commitment to customer satisfaction. Salary and Equal Opportunity
