Nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider who provides primary and/or specialty care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with the health care team in accordance with certification and licensure. Practice emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. Responsible for dissemination of knowledge through instructing, leading and developing educational programs. Cleveland Clinic's Diagnostic Institute is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Practitioner (Family, Primary, Acute) for a full-time position with the Interventional Radiology team at Indian River Hospital. The Interventional Radiology practice has a growing presence in the longitudinal care of both the inpatient and outpatient populations as well as performing various IR procedures. This position is not for the procedural averse. On-site training will be provided. Typical duties may include occasional inpatient rounding and consults with longitudinal care, but the majority is procedure based. Routine procedures include removal of vascular access devices, paracentesis, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture and US guided procedures. The current hours are Monday-Friday. Applicants should be aware that the hours, scope of procedures and locations may change with this position as the practice demands change.

Responsibilities

Conducts thorough medical histories, performs physical examinations (where indicated), initiates labs and tests required for evaluation, and develops a working diagnosis and treatment plan in collaboration with the health care team.

Performs and interprets common laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic and other routine diagnostic procedures as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.

Performs routine and specialized procedures as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.

Prescribes and monitors medications as allowed by license through the state board and Cleveland Clinic policies.

Educates patients and answers questions regarding disease, treatments, related drug and treatment side effects and hazards.

Participates in medical team rounds; collaborates with nursing, medical and other healthcare team members regularly to ensure quality patient care.

Refers patients to specialists for consultation or for specialized health resources and treatment.

Ensures continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team.

Participates in quality monitoring through review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes to assure quality care.

Facilitates length of stay, discharge planning and compliance with regulatory standards for inpatient management.

Supports professional development of the health care team and translates evidence-based practices, guidelines, and research into practice.

May conduct research studies and assist in data collection and analysis.

May serve as a clinical preceptor for students and onboard new caregivers.

Education and Credentials

APRN

Graduate of an accredited APRN program. Master’s degree is required upon hire.

PA

Graduate of an A.R.C. approved Physician Assistant Program. Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or higher from a program recognized by the practicing states Licensing Board.

Languages

Oral and written communication in English

Certifications

NP

Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in applicable state(s).

Must be licensed as an RN in applicable state(s).

National certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally accredited organization recognized by the State Board of Nursing.

Current DEA License or DEA designee as required by NCQA.

Wound care certification preferred or willingness to obtain within 2 years of hire.

BLS required by AHA.

ACLS or PALS (or NRP) may be required based on work setting.

Must have arrangements with at least one physician per State Board requirements.

Must be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.

PA

Certification through the NCCPA or successor organization; license to practice and prescribe issued by the practicing state Licensing Board.

Current DEA License or DEA designee as required by NCQA.

BLS required by AHA.

ACLS/PALS or ATLS may be required depending on work setting.

Physician Supervision Agreement and signed addendum may be required.

Must be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.

Work Experience

Wound care, dermatology, vascular surgery or related field experience preferred; new graduates with relevant clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.

Skills

Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and in a team.

Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and basic computer skills.

Work Environment

IR Center operates during regular business hours; no on-call or weekend requirements.

Work in both outpatient and inpatient settings with exposure to biohazards and infectious diseases.

Physical requirements include standing for extended periods and performing manual wound care procedures.
