This posting reflects an opening for a CT Technologist I and we are seeking candidates for that position. Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels of this role, including CT Technologist II, based on skills, qualifications, and experience. Under general supervision of the Radiologist, performs CT procedures to acquire digital images for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range in their assigned clinical area. Ensures protocols are based on guidelines and the CT scanner’s integration into the program that compiles dose data from each scan and notifies the user when a scan exceeds preset levels.

Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise to operate CT scanners, power injectors and computer systems to acquire images for radiologists for diagnosis and treatment. Maintain knowledge to operate different CT systems at multiple locations. Maintain protocols based on Image Gently Guidelines and CT scanner’s dose data monitoring with alerts for exceeding preset levels. Possess broad knowledge of clinical histories to match appropriate protocols and anatomy across thoracic, abdominal, pelvic, neuro, and musculoskeletal systems. Obtain CT images according to established protocols, ensuring patient preparation, positioning, immobilization, shielding when applicable, and correct technical factors. Perform CT interventional procedures and CTA imaging (carotid, head, vertebral, run-offs, pulmonary embolism timing) including advanced studies as applicable. Maintain pharmacology knowledge to ensure necessary pre-procedure results; apply physiology and physics knowledge to optimize image quality and minimize dose. Interpret technical factors to improve quality or speed of scans.

Education & Experience

Education: Graduate from Specialty Training Program (Required). Experience & Certifications: Certified Radiology Technologist (ARRT) and Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) or equivalent. Please ensure ARRT certification is obtained within 12 months of employment.
