Overview

Carter Machinery is hiring a Field Service Technician in Edgewood, Maryland. The Field Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment at customer sites. Candidates should have experience performing mechanical service and repairs to Caterpillar and related competitive equipment; a high school diploma or GED is required. Responsibilities

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment at customer sites. Interact professionally with customers and all levels of personnel within the organization. Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply new knowledge; proficiency with technical software, databases and manuals. Work independently and as part of a team; manage workload priorities while providing excellent customer service. Ability to work any shift and overtime as needed to meet business and customer demands. Maintain an excellent driving record and, if applicable, a valid Commercial Driver’s license or the ability to obtain a CDL and DOT certification with a DOT Medical Card. Function effectively in a fast-paced environment and adhere to safety and equipment handling requirements. Qualifications

Minimum of three years of relevant heavy equipment field experience (required for the $5,000 sign-on bonus); candidates with less than three years are eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus. Must have excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills and strong mechanical aptitude. Must be able to interact professionally with customers and all levels of personnel; strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be self-directed, well organized, and able to prioritize workload while delivering excellent customer service. Proficient use of technical software, databases and manuals. High school diploma or GED required. Must be able to lift, carry and maneuver up to 70 pounds; ability to perform repetitive motions and work on and around heavy equipment. Must be able to pass background checks and meet physical requirements as necessary. Compensation and Bonuses

Starting Compensation Range:

$29.26 – $41.04 per hour Sign-on bonus:

Up to $5,000 for eligible new hires; $2,500 payable after 90 days and $2,500 after 180 days. The $5,000 sign-on bonus requires a minimum of three years of relevant heavy equipment field experience. Bonuses are paid in two equal installments at 90 days and 180 days of employment. Actual base pay may vary based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, education, geographic location, and other business needs. Total compensation may include participation in incentive programs. Benefits
