At SLR, we are seeking a passionate expert looking to lead our geotechnical practice in Cheshire, Connecticut!

Our Geotech team has extensive experience in geotechnical engineering regarding new construction and rehabilitation of buildings, pavements, rock excavation, bridges, slope stability, athletic playing fields, forensic investigations, retaining walls, dams and braced/tied back excavation support systems, from initial feasibility studies through final design including geotechnical construction-phase inspections and testing.

We are SLR Consulting (US), a 500+ coast-to-coast team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. We are Making Sustainability Happen.

As our new senior-level Geotechnical Engineer, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain relationships with clients that result in sustained revenue growth

Achieve business financial targets

Manage overall project/program budgets and schedules, client satisfaction/expectations, and internal and contract requirements

Demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of project management and effective delegation and oversight of group or program tasks and goals

Provide final senior review of technical or promotional communications prepared by staff and others

Promote cross-selling of SLR technical services

Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment

Manage junior staff

Collaborate with project managers in the company’s civil, structural, water resource, construction, and transportation engineering teams

Qualifications / Education / Memberships

Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering

Master’s degree in civil engineering with geotechnical specialty preferred

10+ years of relevant work experience in geotechnical engineering

The successful candidate will have demonstrated a level of experience in both the performance and management of the development and execution of subsurface exploration and testing programs, analysis and design of a wide variety of geotechnical engineering applications, including dam investigations and design, preparation of technical reports, specifications, and plans for designing foundations, retaining walls, dams and other geotechnical aspects of construction

Licensed Professional Engineer in Connecticut

Possess reliable transportation to travel to job sites with a valid driver’s license

Field orientation and proven problem-solving skills

Demonstrated project management skills

Consultant-minded professional with a keen understanding of client value generation and business drivers

Excels in working with peers and subordinate staff in different geographic locations

Collaborative, team-oriented approach to daily work

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to develop rapport and credibility

Attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities

Skilled in communicating technical information to internal and external business contacts

Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and multi-tasking skills

Self-directed and highly motivated

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.
