We are Making Sustainability Happen.As our new **entry-level Geotechnical Engineer**, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.**Role**Launch your career in Geotechnical Engineering in our Cheshire, Connecticut office location!At SLR, you will have the chance to work with a multidisciplinary team of experienced engineers, geologists, and other professional staff who are supportive of your growth and development.**Responsibilities:**The geotechnical engineer will be responsible for conducting subsurface explorations and construction phase field inspections.

You will assist with the data interpretation, analysis, technical reports, specifications, and plans for design of foundations, ground improvement, retaining walls, pavements, dams, and other geotechnical aspects of proposed construction.* Conduct site visits and observe subsurface investigations

+ Observe site conditions and locate explorations in the field

+ Log subsurface explorations and in-situ testing, collect samples, prepare logs* Perform technical analyses and calculations for deep and shallow foundations, slope stability, roadways, seismic, ground improvement, and dam rehabilitation* Perform construction phase observations and testing during earthwork and foundation preparations, prepare technical field reports* Support and work with senior-level engineers on a variety of geotechnical projects**Working @ SLR**With us, there is no doubt you’ll grow your subject-matter expertise and industry knowledge. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.* Full-time, permanent role with opportunities for professional growth and advancement**Qualifications/Education/Memberships:*** Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field *(Master’s a plus)** Strong interest in geotechnical engineering and the desire to grow in this field* Basic understanding of soil mechanics, foundation design, and geotechnical testing methods* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills* Excellent written and verbal communication skills* Ability to work well independently and as part of a team* Possess valid driver’s license and willingness to drive to and from job sites* *Familiarity with engineering software (i.e., AutoCAD) a plus** *Internship or co-op experience in geotechnical, civil, or environmental engineering (a plus)** *Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification (a plus)***Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) are at the core of who we are and want to be.**
