As part of the Maple Grove Process Development team, this position will lead a team providing prototype solutions, technology development, and technical support across all phases of product development—from concept through commercialization. You will oversee the development and management of people and processes required to ensure functional excellence and the delivery of robust, scalable, high-quality manufacturing processes to divisional and operations customers. This role will also provide strategic input into departmental initiatives while building, developing, and empowering a strong team capable of fulfilling multi-project and multi-customer needs. Success will require strong collaboration across functions and geographic locations to advance key programs and support Boston Scientific's mission to transform lives through innovative medical solutions. Your responsibilities will include

Supervise, lead, and provide technical direction to technicians to develop highly capable, scalable, and robust laser manufacturing processes, and successfully transfer these processes into operations

Assist manager in providing guidance and training to staff, developing team members to attain career goals, motivating individuals to achieve results, and recruiting and maintaining a high-quality staff

Partner with manager to establish department goals, objectives, and budgets

Assist manager with resource planning and hiring for the department

Lead engineering teams to the successful completion of Process Development project goals

Collaborate with manager to ensure execution of functional deliverables associated with Product Development Process (PDP)/Technology Development Process (TDP), Project Management, and Quality Systems

Successfully complete Process Development engineering project work for new product development

Prioritize and manage execution of multiple projects simultaneously

Build and maintain strong cross-functional team relationships

Work cross-functionally to identify and resolve engineering issues

Ensure compliance with policies, processes, and quality standards

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in laser technology

Minimum of 3 years of professional experience leading technical teams (not necessarily by means of overseeing direct reports)

Proficiency in CAD software

Ability to travel approximately 5% (domestic and international) to support development and transfer activities at various sites

Prior experience in the medical device or other highly regulated industry

Demonstrated cross-functional collaboration in technically demanding environments

Demonstrated management of a service-oriented team such as production or operations

Experience with facilities management, equipment utilization, scheduling team activities, and customer delivery

Preferred qualifications

Prior professional experience in using fiber laser technology for metal cutting/augmentation

Proficiency in SolidWorks

Proven leadership and management of technical teams, including coaching, development, and motivating individuals to achieve results

Proficiency in CAM software (Cagila preferred)

Proficiency with a variety of laser machinery (build, maintenance, and/or usage)

Experience leading teams in developing and transferring manufacturing processes and/or production lines across a global network

Ability to anticipate future technology needs and initiate programs with minimal oversight

Experience leading teams throughout the product lifecycle—from exploratory to commercialization and end of life

Strong vendor management and collaboration skills

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude

Requisition ID: 614355 Minimum Salary: $82,600 Maximum Salary: $156,900 The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. It is not typical for a role to be hired near the bottom or top of the listed salary range. Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may include variable compensation (e.g., overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target. Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may include variable compensation (annual bonus target and long-term incentives).
