Pharmacy Operations Manager

The role requires supervision of pharmacy technicians, cashiers, and adherence to company policies, laws, and regulations under the supervision of a pharmacist. Responsibilities
Perform day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities where allowed by state and federal laws/regulations; ensure efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician where applicable. Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions; supervise pharmacy technicians and cashiers within authorized company policies, laws, and ethics. Oversee selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel; lead training, coaching, and performance management of technicians; make decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination. Engage customers and patients by greeting, offering assistance, resolving complaints, and responding to non-clinical questions to ensure a positive customer experience; model customer service best practices. Assist the pharmacist in patient care delivery including patient registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, and verification as allowed by law; conduct patient and physician calls under pharmacist supervision and participate in health services offered where permitted by law. Delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work in the pharmacy; manage core workflow, daily schedule, and inventory; ensure compliance and timely task completion. Prepare and file reports and records as directed by the Pharmacy Manager or pharmacist; manage inventory preparation and ensure security safeguards are in place. Drive new technology/process rollouts, support change management, and coordinate with the Pharmacy Manager on recordkeeping and security. Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policy during all applicable prescription-dispensing activities and ensure the elements of Good Faith Dispensing are met. People & Performance Management
Lead performance management of technicians, including discipline recommendations; apply constructive discipline policies; hold technicians accountable for attendance and timeliness; improve pharmacy performance through engagement and action planning. Hire, onboard, train, and schedule technicians; monitor training completion and follow policies for scheduling and training. Identify gaps in team knowledge and provide training or learning modules; ensure licensure, registrations, and certifications are active and compliant with laws; use company resources to document licensure status. Training & Personal Development
Maintain PTCB certification (or state requirements) and pursue ongoing professional development and certifications as required by the company. Seek feedback, monitor performance, and engage with mentors/coaches for development. Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations). Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management/leadership experience. Previous experience with Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation.
