Perform day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities where allowed by state and federal laws/regulations; ensure efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions; supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers under the direction of a pharmacist, following authorized policies, laws, regulations, and ethics. Lead the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel; train, coach, and manage performance; make decisions regarding discipline and termination. Engage in patient care support activities under pharmacist supervision, including patient registration, prescription data entry, preparation and verification of medications (where allowed by law), and participating in health services offered by the pharmacy (e.g., vaccines, health screenings). Delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work in the pharmacy; monitor on-time task completion and maintain efficient workflow; assist with reports and records as required by company and government agencies. Manage core pharmacy workflow, daily scheduling, staffing considerations, and inventory management; ensure the pharmacy is clean, organized, and stocked with adequate supplies. Support recordkeeping, security safeguards, and compliance with Good Faith Dispensing policies; assist in diversion monitoring and report concerns to the Pharmacy Manager. Communicate prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and participate in Continuous Quality Improvement processes. Assist in processing insurance claims, resolve customer issues, and participate in third-party audits; support efforts to improve pharmacy financials, quality, and customer service. Coordinate off-site immunization clinics and community events in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager; build and maintain relationships with retail partners. People & Performance Management
Lead performance management of technicians, including discipline decisions. Use constructive discipline policies to ensure compliance with state and federal laws; promote attendance, timeliness, and team engagement. Hire, on-board, train, and schedule technicians; monitor training completion and enforce policies for scheduling and training. Identify knowledge gaps among team members and support training through hands-on guidance or learning modules. Monitor licensure, registrations, and certifications for pharmacy staff to ensure active and compliant status; document licensure status using available Walgreens resources. Ensure proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training per Company policy and laws. Training & Personal Development
Maintain PTCB certification or required state certifications; pursue ongoing knowledge and skills in pharmacy and healthcare. Obtain required certifications and training; follow performance improvement plans as directed; seek professional development and mentorship. Communication
Communicate with the pharmacy team and relay messages from support centers or other key emails; participate in store/pharmacy meetings and regular check-ins with the Store Manager. Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting. Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations). Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management/leadership experience. Previous Walgreens experience with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation.
