Overview
Employee Resilience Clinician role at Boston Medical Center (BMC). The position will support Employee Resilience efforts for all Boston Medical Center Health System employees, primarily focused on BMCHS sites in Brockton, MA. The Employee Resilience Clinician provides direct support in response to critical incidents and workplace stressors; delivers trainings in areas such as stress management, crisis management, emotional wellness, etc.; and offers peer-to-peer support. The ERP Clinician covers Employee Resilience support at BMC South Medical Hospital, Brockton Behavioral Health Center Inpatient Psychiatric Service, and BMC Clinical Stabilization Services Unit. Provides individual employees and teams with direct support related to adverse events and occupational stress injuries. Proactively expands mental wellness initiatives to meet the needs of employees across disciplines. Builds relationships with stakeholders across sites and supports a holistic approach to employee well-being. Available during evening hours on an occasional basis. Essential Responsibilities / Duties
Supports Employee Resilience Program’s strategic vision as a subject matter expert in emotional wellness support and crisis management throughout the Hospital and Health System. Crisis Management: Collaborates with relevant leadership, groups, and committees as needed; supports employees with the emotional impacts of assaults and other critical incidents. Team Support: Assists with supervising Peer Support Program and program expansion; trains employees in Stress First Aid and other wellbeing workshops; leads Critical Incident Emotional Debriefings following Adverse Events and/or as requested; assists in facilitating Resilience Rounds and Team support workshops; proposes, develops, and implements programming, training, and workshop resources under the guidance of the ERP Director. Outreach & Team Support: Coordinates and facilitates Resilience Rounds with various departments, programs, and specialties; proactive outreach including attendance at Daily Huddles and Challenging Inpatient Situation meetings; rounds on floors and attends team meetings and huddles; demonstrates knowledge of hospital cultures and relates to employees across disciplines and roles; facilitates groups and provides trainings to diverse audiences. Education & Requirements
Education Masters’ degree in Social Work (MSW) or mental health counseling, or related field required. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Independent Licensure to practice as a social worker in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (LICSW) or licensed mental health counselor (LMHC / LMFT) and/or related field required. Experience
A minimum of 3 years progressive experience as a mental health counselor, with Crisis Management experience. Experience in medical settings, community health settings, mental health and psychiatric settings preferred. Experience in Employee Assistance is beneficial. Having experience in Stress First Aid, Psychological First Aid and/or Critical Incident Stress Management preferred. Active membership in professional and leadership organizations preferred. Strong clinical foundation and understanding of trauma-informed care in a health care setting Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills in interactions with employees, senior leaders, physicians, and health care team colleagues Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds; flexibility and adaptability Displays empathy, respect, and sound judgment Knowledge of community resources, particularly services available to employees with limited payment resources Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks Ability to create and facilitate trainings for multiple audiences and comfortable presenting to large groups Proficiency in languages other than English is encouraged (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole) Equal Opportunity
