Overview

ACCESS & UTILITY ENGINEER role at State of New Hampshire, Department of Transportation, Bureau of Highway Maintenance, District 1 (Lancaster, NH). This is a full-time position that may involve trainee status with a defined pay rate and progression to full qualifications. Responsibilities

Coordinate the permit application review process with other Department Bureaus, Federal agencies, State agencies, municipal authorities, developers, consultants, property owners, and utilities to ensure efficient issuance of permits. Review, comment on, and direct changes to complex consultant-designed projects, studies, reports, and plans to ensure compliance with Department standards, access management principles, and maintenance requirements. Inspect and monitor complex projects, coordinate major construction phases, and direct field changes to protect the traveling public and the integrity of the State highway system. Direct, train, and supervise an engineering staff in the evaluation of plans and specifications, application of engineering principles and sound access management techniques, and inspection of highway construction for compliance with standards and permits. Develop, review, explain, and defend current and long-range Department objectives related to the permit process to promote public relations and Department goals. Perform research and analysis related to the State highway system to respond to public and governmental inquiries; maintain drainage inventory and compliance. Supervise record-keeping of permits, records, plans, deeds, easements, and other public documents for highways and projects within the District. Perform work in full conformance with risk management, safety, and environmental standards and regulations. Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience are evaluated with substitutions as follows: Each additional year of approved formal education may substitute for one year of required work experience, and each additional year of work experience may substitute for one year of formal education. Education Master's degree in engineering from an accredited institution. Four years of post-baccalaureate engineering experience. Education Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution. Six years of post-baccalaureate engineering experience. Education Associate's degree in engineering or engineering technology with six years of engineering practice at a level equivalent to Civil Engineer I (or higher), plus two years in a comparable Engineering Technician role. License/Certification Professional Engineer (PE) License with designation in Civil, Civil Highway, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering. Valid driver's license and access to transportation. Other Requirements Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet minimum standards set by the hiring agency. Must have a telephone and be willing/able to be available for 24-hour call. Trainee Option : Candidates with an equivalent combination of 9+ years of relevant education and experience after high school may be considered for trainee status. Preferred Qualifications : Resides within the District. After-Hire : Licensed professional Engineer in the State of New Hampshire within one year of employment. Employment Details
