About the Role We are seeking a strategic and solutions-driven Senior Manager to lead a Sales Planning team within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. In this leadership role you will manage a small team, drive media plan strategy, maintain pricing governance, and oversee the execution of advertising campaigns.
You Will:
Team Management & Development:
Oversee day‑to‑day management of 1‑2 Sales Planning verticals, guiding team members to build expertise in business best practices and effectively navigate pricing, packaging, and negotiations for media campaigns.
Support onboarding and continuous training for Planning Managers.
Provide career development support, coaching, and mentorship to team members.
Work directly with the Planning Director to identify resource challenges and ensure appropriate team staffing.
Media Plan Strategy & Execution:
Act as a resource for the Sales Planning team, providing hands‑on support for escalated client needs or highly complex campaigns.
Develop standards for addressing challenges such as viewability, fraud, and discrepancies, and provide critical troubleshooting skills.
Pricing Strategy & Governance:
Collaborate with Revenue Operations and Product Strategy teams to develop and optimize inventory and packaging strategies across all properties, including digital, print, and events.
Facilitate the governance process for pricing exceptions, ensuring compliance with internal policies and best practices.
Product & Operational Expertise:
Contribute to the creation of Planning processes and product workflows, providing feedback to drive operational efficiency.
Develop an expert understanding of Dow Jones’ product offerings and operational capabilities to effectively guide the team and support business objectives.
Project Management & Strategic Initiatives:
Lead project management efforts for proprietary ad tech products and tools, ensuring efficient execution and adoption.
Drive ad‑hoc projects aligned with business priorities, as directed by Digital Operations‑Client Success leaders and Media Sales executives.
You Have:
5‑7+ years of experience working with an advertising operations or media planning team, with client‑facing and team‑management experience required.
Proven experience using one or more ad serving and/or order management systems (e.g., Google Ad Manager, FatTail/AdBook).
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and cross‑functional stakeholders while managing multiple projects and tight deadlines.
Detail‑oriented and highly motivated with proven analytical, strategic, and creative problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effectively articulating complex scenarios to clients and internal teams.
Advanced computer applications skills (Excel, Word, Google Suite).
BA/BS College degree required.
