Overview
QEI Elevator Inspector - Miami, FL at Bureau Veritas North America. This position involves conducting trade-specific inspections on elevators, escalators, mechanized walkways, and other lift machinery to verify compliance with applicable codes, drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents. Responsibilities
Perform trade-specific code and/or quality control inspections on various phases/aspects of elevator systems. Detect defects and faults in equipment installations, maintenance, or operation and recommend or stipulate remedial measures per jurisdictional requirements. Read, interpret, and comprehend equipment operation and installation plans and instructions. Use standard testing devices and methods to ensure equipment operation meets established requirements. Apply code requirements and related standards in accordance with state, local, and national regulations and department policies. Coordinate work schedules with elevator service companies/technicians to ensure maximum operational efficiency. Work cooperatively with property managers, service companies, and the general public. Conduct all work operations in accordance with established safety practices, ensuring no hazards to self or others. Qualifications
Possession of current QEI (Qualified Elevator Inspector) certification. Four (4) years of experience in the elevator industry performing elevator inspections, service, repairs, and/or testing of elevator systems. Education in an engineering discipline may be substituted for two years of field experience. Knowledge of installing, repairing, and maintaining electric and hydraulic elevators, escalators, and moving walks. Fundamental mechanical and electrical principles as they apply to elevators and related controls. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and code documents; interpret and apply relevant standards. Application of the American National Standard Safety Code for Elevators, Dumbwaiters, Escalators and Moving Walks as referenced in Construction Code and jurisdictional requirements. Work Environment
Typically works in an industrial field environment with daily exposure to operating machinery. Office time is limited. Compensation & Benefits
