Overview
Airworthiness Certification Engineer - Avionics and Mission Systems at Bell Textron. Bell is seeking an experienced, self-motivated Military Aircraft Avionics Airworthiness Engineer to join the Advanced Vertical Lift Systems team and support the FLRAA program. The Airworthiness Engineer establishes and manages compliance with joint Bell-USG airworthiness requirements on military programs and leads airworthiness certification/qualification objectives throughout the product lifecycle. This role involves challenging avionics technology, working with suppliers and customers to meet mission requirements using modular architecture. The position reports onsite at Bell’s Headquarters. Responsibilities
Performs technical airworthiness planning and verification support, including development and negotiation of airworthiness certification plans, bases of certification, means of compliance, and other certification activities for complex total systems with IPTs and customer counterparts. Reviews and coordinates with other airworthiness engineers and internal disciplines across the total system (design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, disposal). Performs functional and process analyses, requirements allocation, and definition studies to translate customer requirements into criteria and derived requirements, ensuring timely realization of airworthiness objectives into system solutions through the product lifecycle. Collaborates with IPTs and USG authority representatives to tailor Airworthiness Qualification Specifications, focusing on Avionics. Manages and maintains airworthiness evidence/artifacts in support of Airworthiness Releases (AWRs) and continued airworthiness. Works with the Airworthiness Manager, Chief Engineer, and Airworthiness Associate Tech Fellow to manage customer airworthiness demands and milestones. Leads with a strong background in Avionics to support the program’s airworthiness needs. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Aeronautical Science; other Math/Science degrees with relevant experience will be considered. 5+ years of experience in an aerospace avionics discipline; electrical experience considered. Minimum of 2 years (plus) in military airworthiness qualification programs or civil certification programs. Ability to gain and maintain a US Government Secret Security Clearance. Experience with DoD airworthiness guidance and MBSE/PLM familiarity is a plus. Design or Systems Engineering experience in Avionics, Air Vehicle Systems, Mission Payload Integration, or Flight Technology. Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with customers and suppliers. What We Offer
