Responsibilities The Academic Mapping Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Mapping process for the College of Arts & Sciences encompassing over 80 undergraduate majors.
Reviewing all CoAS transfer applications and making admission decisions consistent with CoAS policies and procedures and coordinating with the FSU Office of Admissions, verifying applicants are meeting the admission criteria for the intended major, entering the admission decision, and setting Map Term based on university policy and criteria set by the academic department where the major is housed (if accepted).
Performing detailed evaluation of transfer credits for verification of prerequisite coursework and equivalencies, and as needed, consulting designated departmental faculty and performing external research to locate and establish prerequisites and equivalencies in FSU's system.
Reviewing and processing primary and secondary major changes and dual degree changes, analyzing transcripts and guiding students on petitioning when adding second major or dual degree post 90-hours.
Serving as quality control, assisting departments with major change information through training and communication and ensuring departments and students are aware of status and re-submission process when denials occur.
Performing detailed audits each semester of newly admitted students to ensure all students are placed correctly and rectifies any errors found. Assisting in communications with departments regarding the Predictive Hold list each semester.
Serving as point of contact to interpret policies and assist students and departments in matters pertaining to the Academic Mapping process.
Qualifications A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Ability to interpret academic program requirements and provide advice
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously
Ability to utilize problem solving skills
Knowledge of academic resources available to students.
Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations
Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices
Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions
Skill in preparing clear and concise reports, policies, procedures, correspondences, and other written materials
Anticipated Salary Range Anticipated starting salary for the position is in the low $50,000s, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
