Position Overview Nurse (40 Hour) – Office/On‑Site – Full‑time, Third Shift – Inpatient Unit – Connecticut Mental Health Center (CMHC), 34 Park Street, New Haven, CT
Salary $79,874 – $104,588/year (Salary commensurate with education and/or experience)
Benefits
Recruitment and retention yearly bonus of $3,000 for registered nurses permanently assigned to the second or third shift (eligible after one year of service)

Key Duties
Independently implements the nursing process with individuals including physicians’ orders regarding diet, medication, and treatment
Performs assessments, changes dressings, monitors quality care through observation and evaluation
Documents nursing interventions on medical records; distributes and maintains records of controlled drugs and ensures security
Responds to emergencies; advises staff and family members regarding treatments, nursing plans, and related individual care issues
May participate as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team in assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of individual treatment plans
May formulate and implement nursing care plans; may administer routine tests; may conduct training; may delegate nursing tasks consistent with established protocols
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited nursing program
Registered Nurse license in Connecticut (must possess and retain a license or temporary permit)
Experience working in a mental health facility (preferred)
Experience working on a team with other disciplines (preferred)
Knowledge of nursing theory, practice, ethics, medications, and psychiatric interventions
Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Ability to act as a role model to health care staff by demonstrating and teaching professional behaviors
Special Requirements
May be required to be fluent in a foreign language or proficient in the use of American Sign Language in certain designated positions
May be required to travel
Working Conditions
May be required to lift and restrain individuals; exposure to communicable/fungible diseases and risk of injury from assaultive/abusive individuals; exposure to disagreeable conditions
