DMHAS promotes health and wellness for persons with behavioral health needs. CMHC is an urban community mental health center with a 50-year tradition, partnering with Yale Department of Psychiatry. CMHC conducts research and serves as a training site for nursing and mental health fields. Purpose of Job Class (Nature of Work): In a state agency, provide a full range of professional nursing care. Examples of Duties: Implement the nursing process, follow physician orders regarding diet, medication, and treatment Perform assessments, change dressings, monitor and evaluate care Document nursing interventions; maintain records and controlled substances Participate in interdisciplinary teams and care planning Respond to emergencies; provide instruction to individuals, staff, and families May participate in outpatient clinics and physical examinations; may administer tests and provide training May delegate tasks and participate in psychotherapeutic and rehabilitation interventions May physically restrain individuals and provide related services Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice, ethics, pharmacology, and standards Skills in interpersonal, oral and written communication Ability to model professional behavior, develop therapeutic relationships, respond to emergencies, and work in an interdisciplinary team Minimum Qualifications - General Experience:

Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a Mental Health facility Experience working in a multidisciplinary team Special Requirements: Current Connecticut RN license or temporary permit May be required to be fluent in a foreign language or proficient in American Sign Language in designated positions May be required to travel Working Conditions:
