Sammons Financial Group Companies What You Can Expect In This Role The Senior Product Owner will be an informal leader who will drive cohesion and alignment across three technical teams. This will be an exciting, transformative opportunity to shape strategy, drive prioritization, and deliver highest value outcomes for the Life BU. In close partnership with the Life and EDI technical teams, this role will translate Life business needs into actionable backlogs, prioritize work based on business value, and navigate business and technical complexities. Success will require exceptional communication and negotiation skills, the ability to lead cross-functional work across interdependent initiatives, and a commitment to continuous learning. What You'll Do In This Role
Partner with Product Manager to craft compelling product vision. Independently articulate product vision and roadmap that aligns with business goals, leveraging technical knowledge to ensure feasibility and scalability. Independently prioritize and manage product backlog utilizing understanding of technical dependencies and constraints, ensuring clear communication of features, user stories, and acceptance criteria to multiple development teams and across business lines. Serve as liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating business needs into technical requirements and ensuring alignment on product goals. Lead Agile ceremonies with confidence, drawing on technical knowledge to clarify requirements and guide sprint planning. Analyze data to inform product decisions, prioritizing features and enhancements that deliver maximum business value. Measure outcomes that align with success metrics, identifying and escalating gaps and pivoting when data doesn’t support outcomes. Collaborate with user experience (UX)/user interface (UI) teams to ensure product designs meet user needs while being technically viable. Advocate for best practices in product development, including understanding of continuous integration (CI)/continuous deployment (CD) principles to streamline delivery and enhance product quality. Build strong working relationships with key partners, stakeholders, and customers to facilitate delivery of expected quality Agile products. Serve as a mentor, sharing knowledge to develop other employees. Serve as a trusted advisor to management and leadership. Continuously pursue industry trends and education, sharing insights with the team. Influence and contribute to the Community of Practice while maintaining certification standards and supporting ongoing knowledge sharing. Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related degree Preferred Minimum 5 years' experience in a product ownership role within an Agile software development environment with a proven track record of delivering products that meet market needs Preferred Financial services experience/knowledge of the business Preferred Experience working closely with technical teams utilizing understanding of technical requirements and constraints Required Experience in translating business needs into strategy and actionable tasks to deliver expected outcomes Required Experience in scaled agile framework environments Preferred Demonstrated knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies with the ability to apply principles in business-focused product development Knowledge of basic technical principles relevant to the product domain (e.g., web technologies, software development lifecycle, user experience (UX)/user interface (UI) design considerations) Organizational skills with ability to manage competing priorities and navigate complex initiative landscapes Effective communication skills with capability of negotiating with stakeholders and ability to convey complex product requirements to technical and non-technical audiences Ability to influence without direct authority Strong leadership and collaboration skills with a track record of leading cross-functional teams to success Commitment to continuous learning and improvement with a willingness to stay up to date on industry trends and emerging technologies Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) designation Required Some travel may be required Other Requirements
