Overview

Assistant Store Director (ASD)-KINGS District at Kings Food Markets. The ASD is actively involved in providing friendly, courteous, and helpful customer service daily and assists the Store Director (SD) with the total operations of the store. The ASD may supervise store employees (100+ bargaining unit and non-contract employees) and perform duties personally or through supervision. The district includes stores in Bedminster, Booton, Cresskill, Florham Park, Garden City, Garwood, Hillsdale, Hoboken, Livingston, Mendham, Midland Park, Upper Montclair, Morristown, Old Greenwich, Short Hills, Summit, Verona, and Whitehouse Station. Responsibilities

Overall management responsibility for operation of the retail grocery store during the absence of the Store Director, including store performance, cash control, inventory and security, customer service, and staff management. Forecast, schedule, and monitor labor to align with store sales and productivity guidelines; create action plans to address cost control issues. Track, analyze, and take action to improve store performance; forecast weekly/daily sales goals and meet or exceed targets. Communicate sales goals, department performance, and sales opportunities to staff to achieve positive results. Support Store Director with development and execution of strategies to improve product placement and appearance; monitor display accuracy and promotions. Ensure in-stock conditions through proper product display and ordering; oversee store maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation. Oversee cash handling and accounting; ensure store security. Plan and coordinate work activities, manage time and resources, and ensure objectives are met. Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies and procedures (wage and hour, safety, sanitation, etc.). Deliver superior customer service through staff training and focus on customer needs. Hire, train, develop, evaluate, and manage store employees; provide feedback and development opportunities. Maintain professional relationships with union officials and comply with applicable collective bargaining agreements. Foster positive working relationships with staff, peers, supervisors, suppliers, and customers; handle difficult situations effectively. Motivate staff to achieve objectives and serve as a positive role model. Perform other management duties to keep the store functioning effectively as needed. Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of one year of assistant manager experience managing a department/team within a multi-department operation in retail or service — OR — two years' experience as a department manager in a multi-department operation within retail or high-volume service. High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred. Strong customer service and supervisory skills. Perishable inventory management experience (no exceptions). Solid understanding of overall store operations; proven leadership ability. Ability to repeatedly use hands, arms, legs, and feet for sustained activity (e.g., walking, stocking). Ability to stand 100% of the shift in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications

Pay: The salary range is $68,000 to $78,000 annually with quarterly bonus potential. Starting salary varies based on location, experience, and qualifications. Total compensation may include 12 days PTO, 40 hours sick time, 6 holidays, 401k match up to 7%, pet insurance, EPA benefits, and more. Travel

May be required to travel for training or corporate programs and focus groups. Travel to other stores to assist when necessary may be required. Schedules

Stores may operate 24 hours per day. Shifts and long hours including nights, holidays, and weekends are possible. Days off during the work week are seldom consecutive. As an Assistant Store Director, time on the sales floor managing employees and interacting with customers is common. Disclaimer
