Downingtown is a borough in Chester County, Pennsylvania, 33 miles west of Philadelphia. Downingtown was settled by English and European colonists in the early 18th century and has a number of historic buildings and structures. The plant was built in 1979, manufactures paper cups and cartons, and has approximately 200 employees.

Responsibilities

Cultivate a collaborative plant culture that encourages employee development, teamwork and adaptability

Evaluate and develop the existing talent found within the manufacturing plant

Build an efficient manufacturing operation through standardized systems, reliable equipment performance and adherence to process

Apply principles of lean manufacturing to improve key business metrics via continuous improvement, waste elimination (1st pass yield and Kaizen) and root cause analysis

Optimize plant performance (overall equipment efficiency/OEE) by maximizing labor efficiency while minimizing scrap and achieving required product quality

Partner with commercial and R&D staff to identify opportunities for cost of manufacturing and product performance improvements

Head the plant management team by empowering and developing people to work effectively as a team

Establish a collaborative culture with accountability while coaching employees to reach their full potential

Communicate the business vision across all levels of the plant

Manage the annual operating plan/budget and resource deployment to meet safety, quality, service, and cost targets

Support internal customer groups to attain profitability targets and deliver finished product that meets quality expectations

Develop and execute safety programs to achieve and sustain a world-class safety record

Direct plant capital programs and expenditures to support strategic operational goals

Comply with all local, state and federal regulations

Manage operations through the Pactiv Evergreen Production System (PEPS)

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Business, Operations, Engineering or a related field is preferred

5–10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing (location size dependent) – preferably in a respected paper or consumer packaging manufacturing organization

Previous management/supervisory experience required
