Under the general direction of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Department Chairs, and Program Directors, provide leadership and analytical support for the Academic/Staff Personnel Unit and the Graduate Studies Unit in a large and diverse administrative cluster. Manage all aspects of the Academic/Staff Personnel and Graduate Studies units. Serve as personnel area expert for the departments supported by the Yellow Cluster (Center for Mind and Brain, Philosophy, Psychology, Science & Technology Studies and Center for Science & Innovation Studies). Responsible for management of all personnel policy and practice. Determine eligibility of all academic titles. Manage, assign, and analyze review of all academic actions including recruitments, appointments, merits, promotions, appraisals, leaves, changes in status, salary adjustments, and appeals for merits, promotions, and appraisals. Provide policy interpretation and recommend solutions in resolving sensitive personnel issues. Responsible for personnel, payroll, and visa actions. Serve as final review on all actions prior to escalating to Dean's office. Lead and manage the graduate team, prepare supplemental teaching budgets, and manage the IPA system for the cluster. Supervise staff in the Academic/Staff Personnel and Graduate Program units; recruit, interview, select, train, and evaluate performance. Serve as Backup to the CAO in areas of Academic Personnel, Staff Personnel, and Graduate Studies. Minimum Qualifications

No Minimum Education requirement. At least 1 year of experience managing HR talent and projects, including planning and coordinating assignments, performing multiple tasks, adapting to changing priorities, meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency. Experience with financial administration, budget management, and developing and forecasting budgets. Knowledge of and experience applying complex policy documents, labor agreements, government employment requirements and regulations (e.g. Worker's Comp, ADA, FMLA, Affirmative Action), and related material. Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify/anticipate problems; to analyze data/information; to recommend and develop action plans; and to implement recommendations. Demonstrated commitment to fostering teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect in a working and learning environment. Preferred Qualifications

Experience creating and maintaining financial spreadsheets and reports. Experience working with sensitive information and documents. Experience in academic and staff personnel administration in a higher education institution. Experience in graduate studies and graduate student employees and compensation. Key Responsibilities

The Yellow Cluster (YC) provides administrative support for instructional and research activities to the Center for Mind and Brain (CMB), the Center for Science and Innovation Studies (CSIS), and the following departments: Philosophy (PHI), Psychology (PSC), and Science and Technology Studies (STS). The centers and departments offer two graduate programs, which support around 150 students, and four undergraduate major programs with nine emphases in both BA & BS degrees, which support around 3300 students. Yellow Cluster and its related departments and centers consist of ~600 employees encompassing a wide diversity of academic and staff positions. The Cluster's annual expenses average $27.3M/annually. Yellow Cluster offices are located on campus in Young Hall and Social Sciences and Humanities and off campus in two buildings in Cousteau Court. Benefits
