Overview
This Laboratory Technician II position is responsible for providing high quality customer service to ensure timely and accurate specimen handling throughout the laboratory sections, serving both internal and external customers. The candidate will perform and report laboratory test results, work in a fast‑paced environment, and uphold Children’s Mercy’s values of kindness, curiosity, inclusion, team, and integrity. Seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment for all employees; new employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non‑immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chickenpox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. Responsibilities
Specimen handling and distribution Use of Information Systems Specimen collection (phlebotomy and SWCL) in accordance with CMH policies and procedures Customer service to internal and external customers in accordance with CMH shared values and service excellence programs Performance of waived to moderate complexity testing and reporting, and specimen processing and preparation under appropriate supervision, following training and competency assessment procedures Maintains general operations of the laboratory and performs quality assurance activities Qualifications
Associate's Degree or equivalent of 60 hours of college credits including biological science and 1–2 years of phlebotomy or laboratory experience; student lab experience may be considered Remote Work/Work from Home
This position is not eligible to work remotely; the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations. Seniority level
