Overview
Job Summary: Conducts and coordinates the development of educational programs for all employees to include orientation, disaster preparedness, and residents' rights. Provides direction and supervision of the educational programs presented to all staff. Maintains in-service records & ensures compliance with state of Georgia regulations. Coordinates clinical rotations for students. Serves as an interview panelist for interviewing all potential nursing department candidates. Conducts facility orientation for all new hires, agency staff, & contract staff. Conducts orientation prior to clinical rotations. Educates all departments within the facility on required documentation for new hires after the initial onboarding. The primary American Heart Association BLS instructor for the facility. Responsible for the training, diagnostic data collection & routine maintenance of five AEDs within the facility. Assumes additional responsibilities in the absence of the Assistant Director of Nursing. Assists as needed with facility supervision during off shifts, weekends, & holidays. Responsibilities
EDUCATIONAL MANDATES: Identifies educational needs of the nursing staff by critically and accurately assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational and work experience. Develop and implement programs to meet these needs. Keeping current on best practices and standards for long-term care facilities. ORIENTATION: Coordinates and conducts orientation for all new employees including contract agency staff. Supervises unit orientation of all new employees and contract agency staff for the Nursing department, in coordination with the Nurse Managers, and assures adequate teaching and evaluation of skills. RECORD KEEPING: Maintains appropriate in-service records and documentation for Staff Development Coordinator. Ensure staff credentialing and certifications are current. Assist with revisions of policies and procedures as needed. CLINICAL ROTATION COORDINATION: Coordinates clinical rotations and preceptors experience for nursing students, Physician Assistant students, Nurse Practitioner students, medical students, dental students, nursing assistant students, and student nurse volunteers. Collaborates with high schools, training centers for Certified Nursing Assistants, technical colleges, and universities for clinical rotations, mentors, and preceptorship. MAINTAIN KNOWLEDGE: Attends conferences and training programs at least annually to facilitate learning and maintain knowledge of current nursing practice. SKILL CHECKS: Assists with annual skills checks for all nursing personnel. Serves as house supervisors as needed. Perform other related assignments as assigned or required. SAFETY ORIENTATION: Orients instructors and students to the safety policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing with a valid Georgia Registered Nurse license, with five years directly related experience required. Current Georgia license or compact license to practice as an RN. Current American Heart Association BLS CPR certification. Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university preferred. Experience in the care of geriatric residents in long-term care environment preferred. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of performance Improvement and proactive assessments. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and other computer software/databases. SKILLS: Facilitate problem solving for complicated admissions. Demonstrates excellent leadership, strong critical thinking and decision-making skills. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, multi-tasking and oral/written communication skills. ABILITIES: Ability to coordinate, implement, and evaluate programs as needed. Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions, maintain confidentiality, keep accurate records and make independent decisions. Ability to orally communicate effectively and present ideas to all levels of personnel. Certifications/License
Current Georgia license or compact license to practice as an RN. Current American Heart Association BLS CPR certification. Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required) Pay Band: B14 Salary to be commensurate with the qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum midpoint) of the position.
