Overview
Outpatient Pharmacy Technician III at UC San Diego Health, Jacobs Medical Center, San Diego, CA. Under the general supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, performs a full range of duties in a retail pharmacy setting and can perform all general tasks in all areas of the pharmacy. Assists the pharmacist in preparation of medications for patient use according to established procedures; facilitates distribution of medications including delivery to the patient\'s bedside (Med-2-Bed program); performs computer order entry, record keeping, and billing functions; maintains inventory levels; and performs other duties as assigned. Performs assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and assists pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in different pharmacy areas. Responsibilities
Assist pharmacists in preparation of medications for patient use following established procedures. Facilitate distribution of medications, including delivery to patient rooms (Med-2-Bed program). Perform computer order entry, record keeping, and billing functions. Maintain inventory levels and support pharmacy operations across areas. Perform assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and support pharmacists with medication orders and distribution. Minimum Qualifications
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy. Minimum of five years of relevant retail/outpatient experience. Experience in project management/system responsibility (e.g., Pyxis, narcotic control, QI, or pharmacy buyer/biller/analyst); OR is a Pharmacy School graduate; OR expanded responsibilities over several areas OR possess a Pharmacy Intern License. Thorough knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations. Proficient computer experience and accurate data entry skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Meds To Beds Program or equivalent. At least 2 years experience with medication ordering and inventory management or equivalent. 340b regulatory knowledge and background. Bilingual: Spanish/English. Comfortable with public speaking and able to present a justified position. Flexible to address any pharmacy need that may arise, especially those that are unexpected or sudden. Special Conditions
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. Pay Transparency
Annual Full Pay Range: $67,756 - $84,209 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $32.45 - $40.33. Factors in determining compensation include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business needs. The Hiring Pay Scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay due to internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
