Controls Engineers 1 are responsible for designing, developing, installing, and maintaining equipment used to monitor and control systems, machinery, and processes. They work across various industries including industrial controls, water/wastewater, power controls and protection, and transportation systems. Controls engineers are experts in advanced process control, instrumentation, distributed control systems, PLCs, and SCADA systems, applying these skills to craft solutions for complex client needs.
Responsibilities
Design / Engineering
Develop design documents for small projects and support larger programs, including narrative design documents, requirements analysis, subsystem designs (CAD, panels, layouts, wiring, SCADA screens, hardware, communications), specifications, and quality reviews.
Create plans, procedures, and fixtures for integrated systems factory testing.
Testing / Troubleshooting / Deployment / Commissioning
Author testing and commissioning procedures, prepare test reports, and develop test fixtures and simulation devices.
Perform factory and field testing, troubleshoot deployed systems, and assist in commissioning processes.
Maintenance
Perform troubleshooting on service calls for existing and legacy systems.
Conduct hardware and software upgrades and replacements on existing systems.
Qualifications
Education / Experience
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, or a related field, with 0+ years of experience.
Abilities
Ability to work with extended computer screen exposure.
Ability to sit for extended periods.
Reach by extending hands or arms as needed.
Finger dexterity for manipulating objects like keyboards.
Effective listening and comprehension skills.
Clear verbal communication.
Ability to read and understand written information.
Apply rules to solve specific problems logically.
Recognize and understand speech from others.
