This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Persnnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: You will perform professional engineering work in the design and technical review of structural engineering features and systems in conjunction with masonry, structural steel, timber, reinforced concrete, foundations, and other structures.
Duties
Design difficult and complex structural engineering features and systems such as large hydraulic structures, river and harbor structures, channel training, and multipurpose dams.
Work as project engineer conducting conferences, negotiations, contacts, and determining design requirements, among other duties to manage projects through completion.
Provide solutions to unforeseen engineering and construction problems that arise in the field.
Review structural designs and working drawings for accuracy and design completeness, agreement of structural with architectural and other engineering features.
Inspect completed construction, report on functional adequacy, conformance to contract requirements, and recommend improvements to be incorporated in future projects.
Requirements
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
