Job Description Provide substation physical engineering, technical support, and supervision to a Transmission Substation engineering and design team. Deliver safe, cost-effective, and quality engineering and design services for utility substation projects, battery energy storage systems, and solar collector substations. This role involves billable client work and project management, including leading discipline work, performing charge engineering duties, and managing schedules and budgets. Support proposal development, project cost estimation, and business development efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide engineering expertise and guidance in problem analysis and resolution.
Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities effectively.
Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, documentation, and sketches.
Continuously improve engineering, technical, and professional skills.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Understand and create substation physical arrangement drawings for construction.
Support company goals and maintain professional relationships with customers and internal teams.
Monitor project deliverables and schedules, and present solutions to clients.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical Engineering) from an ABET-accredited institution.
5-7 years of experience in the electrical power delivery industry.
Professional Engineering (PE) license or eligibility to obtain within a year.
Strong communication, analytical, and project management skills.
Ability to interpret technical documents and create engineering drawings.
Understanding of substation design, equipment, grounding, lightning protection, and related fields is preferred.
Experience leading engineering teams and mentoring junior staff.
Ability to visit job sites and adapt designs during construction.
Physical Demands & Work Environment Physical activities include occasional standing, walking, and frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and handling tools. Lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally. Work environment includes outdoor conditions, high, cold, and heat exposure, and potential electrical shock risks. Reasonable accommodations can be made for disabilities.
