Location: Marinette, WI; Panama City, FL; Port St. Joe, FL
Days/Hours: Mon–Fri, 40 hours/week with potential OT
Relocation: No
Travel: 100% to the listed locations
Signing Bonus: No
Salary: Negotiable based on experience
Contingent on contract award; U.S. Citizenship required; successful completion of a background investigation and drug screening
Labor Category – Summary The Engineer I’s purpose is to solve technical problems, develop applicable documentation, and supervise all assigned resources to support the project. The Engineer I assists Senior Engineers, Engineering Supervisors, and Project Engineers in determining technical requirements, defining resource needs to achieve schedule and budget commitments, and solving technical issues within the field of competence.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Solve technical issues under the guidance of department supervision
Plan, estimate, schedule, and monitor assigned work and the work of assigned resources
Track and report progress to budget and schedule commitments
Supervise assigned resources
Facilitate communications of issues and solutions throughout MMC
Prepare, check, and issue professional quality deliverables
Interpret contract requirements
Develop contract change documents to support project needs
Abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures
May be required to lead or participate in product improvement projects
Supervisory Responsibilities The Engineer I may directly supervise up to 3 employees. Supervisory responsibilities are carried out in accordance with the Company’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. The Engineer I also demonstrates leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of the company.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (4-year) in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or High School Diploma/GED with 8 years of equivalent experience
2 years of experience with increasing responsibility in the engineering field
Supervisory experience desired
Six Sigma or LEAN training desired
Skills
Technological skills demonstrated by verifiable work experience, technical publication, or patent
Working knowledge of standard shipbuilding rules and regulations; familiarity with regulatory agencies and review/approval processes is a bonus
Current computer skills relevant to the field
Ability to work within schedule and budget restraints
Professional demeanor; effective written and verbal communication
Ability to maintain confidentiality

Role Responsibilities TMMG is seeking a full-time Naval Ship Test & Trials HP&E Engineer to provide shipyard Test Director support during construction of Naval ships in a shipyard environment. The Engineer will maintain the build schedule to meet NAVAL Ship Test & Trials HP&E milestone and event requirements, and provide support items to light off and test systems in preparation for trials events including Builder Dock Trials, Builder Sea Trials, and Acceptance Trials. The candidate must be self-motivated, self-directed, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Test & Trials Planning: Develop detailed test and trials plans, including procedures for Hull, Propulsion, and Electrical systems; coordinate with cross-functional teams to schedule and prioritize tests; ensure procedures comply with military and safety standards
System Testing & Performance Validation: Lead on-board and off-board testing of Hull, Propulsion, and Electrical systems during trials; perform operational testing; monitor performance and document results; troubleshoot issues with engineering team
Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and maintain documentation for test plans, results, and trial reports; analyze data and recommend corrective actions; provide status updates to management
Collaboration & Coordination: Work with shipbuilders, operators, and maintenance personnel; liaise with design engineering teams and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance
Continuous Improvement & Optimization: Identify process improvements; provide feedback to design/engineering; stay current with technologies and best practices
Safety & Compliance: Ensure testing activities adhere to safety standards and regulatory requirements; monitor hazards and mitigate risks
Physical Requirements
Ability to work onboard ships in various sea states, including confined spaces and loud environments
Willingness to travel to shipyards and other locations as required
Climb tall ladders, crawl in tanks/bilges, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds; ability to work in adverse environments for long periods
COVID vaccination dependent on customer requirements
Secret security clearance not required (desired but not required)
