Manufacturing Engineer - Maintenance Janicki Industries is an innovative, family‑owned aerospace company located at the foot of the Cascades. We focus on engineering and manufacturing complex projects for the aerospace, defense and space industries. We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer – Maintenance to join our growing team on site in Sedro‑Woolley, WA.

Overview The Manufacturing Engineer – Maintenance manages the health of Janicki’s 5‑axis production mills and facility support equipment. The role develops maintenance and production processes, optimizes processes, designs and tests equipment in an AS9100 certified facility. The engineer becomes the technical expert of the mechanical equipment required for machining processes and equipment, and supports efficient coordination of modifications and repairs.

Responsibilities

Plan scheduled maintenance events – short and long term.

Develop Preventive Maintenance Inspection (PMI) procedures for production and building equipment to maximize asset uptime.

Develop Planned Maintenance (PM) procedures in response to unplanned failures and findings from PMI.

Provide support in response to equipment breakdowns and diagnose faults.

Support engineering, managerial and technical staff to coordinate equipment modification and repairs with minimal impact to production.

Assist with development and coaching of junior maintenance staff.

Design, build or procure specialized components, fixtures or parts to support maintenance repairs or equipment upgrades.

Keep current with the latest equipment, technologies and maintenance methods.

Maintain an overview of production processes and facilities and work with management to develop and implement improvements for optimal results.

Maintain compliance with Safety, 5S, AS9100 and Nadcap Standards and Practices.

Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange purchase of capital and small equipment, materials or parts. Manage and coordinate new machine installation and commissioning, determine and suggest critical spare requirements for new equipment.

Files, drafts, retrieves and maintains engineering drawings, records, revisions and updates as needed.

Work with Operations Managers to identify and mitigate risk in the production process.

Aide with recording test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and provide recommendations for changes in product or test method.

Plan whole‐building air and vacuum systems including equipment and piping.

Plan and execute changes to building and equipment control and monitoring systems using a Building Automation System (BACNET capable).

Must work well under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.

Must be punctual and maintain good attendance – an essential function of the job.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident Status.

Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance; Janicki will assist in gaining this access once employed.

Experience with PLCs, electro‑mechanical systems and 3D modeling software.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

High school diploma or GED is the minimum requirement for all positions.

Education / Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Composite / Material Science, Industrial Design Technology or a related field with an emphasis in robotics or automation is required. Degrees with similar technical qualifications may be considered.

Must be familiar with PLCs, electro‑mechanical systems, and 3D modeling software.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products.

Must rely on extensive experience, problem‑solving skills and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.

Additional Information Salary range for this role is between $80,000 – $145,000, plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off‑shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job‑related and non‑discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
